Membership Types

The Poultry Science Association is...

A Professional Member is any person who has a professional interest in poultry science. Professional members may be educators, scientists, extension specialists, postdocs, administrators, and producers who are committed to advancing the poultry industry.

Annual dues for Professional Members are $120 per calendar year and include Open Access (OA) to both the Poultry Science® journal and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. Membership in PSA provides reduced registration rates to the Annual Meeting and a reduced OA charge for manuscripts published in both Poultry Science® and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. A Professional Member shall have all the rights and privileges of the Association.

A Student Member is any person who is duly registered or enrolled for a degree or diploma in a recognized college, university, or institution of higher education, and does not hold a doctorate degree. The person must be classified as a full-time student and be following a curriculum in, or closely related to, poultry science or an allied field. 

All student members are automatically members of the PSA Student Hatchery and the USA Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA-USA) and have all the rights and privileges of Professional Members, except that Undergraduate Student members cannot vote or hold office. Student membership is FREE. Graduate students can maintain their PSA Graduate Student membership for up to 5 years, and undergraduate students can maintain their PSA Undergraduate membership for up to 4 years with annual renewals.

Student Membership includes Open Access (OA) to both the Poultry Science® journal and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. Membership in PSA provides reduced registration rates to the Annual Meeting and participation in all PSA Hatchery activities and events. The same reduced OA charge for manuscripts published in both Poultry Science® and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research offered to Professional Members is also offered to Student Members.

A Postdoc Member is any person who is currently conducting research through a university or in the industry after earning their PhD. The person must be classified as a full-time Postdoc researcher and be following a curriculum in, or closely related to, poultry science or an allied field.

Annual dues for Postdoc Members are $60 per calendar year and include Open Access (OA) to both Poultry Science® and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. Membership in PSA provides reduced registration rates to the Annual Meeting and a reduced OA charge for manuscripts published in both Poultry Science® and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. A Postdoc Member shall have all the rights and privileges of the Association. Postdoc researchers can maintain their PSA Postdoc membership for up to 2 years with annual renewals and payments.

An Emerging Professional Member is any person who has held an active student membership, but no longer qualifies as a student member because of receiving a degree that has lead to no further degrees being pursued. This membership is available to a recent graduate as he/she transitions into a role with an employer either in industry, academia, or other field related to poultry science.

This is a one-time membership offered for FREE to student members from the previous membership year. After one year of holding a this transitional membership, the member will then need to continue membership through the Professional Member category.

An Emeritus Member is a Professional Member of PSA who has been a professional member of the association for the previous five years, and 1) has attained 70 years of age, or 2) has attained a retired status and is no longer in receipt of a regular salary for work in the poultry area. An Emeritus member shall have all the rights and privileges of the Association. All requests for Emeritus status require approval by the PSA Board of Directors.

Annual dues for Emeritus Members are FREE and include Open Access (OA) to both the Poultry Science® journal and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. Emeritus Membership in PSA provides reduced retired registration rates to the Annual Meeting.
