The purpose of this scholarship is to promote diversity in the poultry science industry. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student with sophomore or junior credit standing at the time of applying. The student is to be studying Poultry Science and belonging to gender, racial or ethnic groups that have been historically under-represented in the United States. The selected recipient will be based upon scholastic achievement and service and an interest in continuing to learn and promote the role of the poultry industry in feeding the world’s growing population. In addition, preference will be given to those who intend to pursue a graduate education in poultry science or related fields.
Funding: $1,250 per semester; 4 semesters for juniors and 2 semesters for seniors. Payments will not be made in excess of $1,250 per semester.

Before completing the scholarship application, students are to have all of the following materials and information ready to input and upload to the application.
The essay is not to exceed 1,000 words and is to be written on the topic below. Please use Times New Roman (or a similar font), 12 pt font size, and double space your essay for easier legibility.
Write your essay on one of the following topic:
The importance of the poultry industry feeding the wourld and the need for sustainability in agriculture. Please also touch on why it is important to have diverse representation in
agriculture and how you contribute to that diversification. Finally, finish your essay by touching on your graduate school and career goals.
