Applications for Student of the Year through the PSA Hatchery are now being accepted. The purpose of this award is to recognize exceptional PSA student members in the time period of August 2020 to March 2021. The recipient of this award will receive a plaque and a $1,000 travel grant (additional details available below).
The 2021 Application Cycle will close on June 1, 2021 at 11:59 PM CST.
Student of the year applications will be reviewed and a recipient will be selected based upon the following:
Interested individuals shall apply through the form on the PSA Portal. The final day to submit an application for this award is June 1, 2021 at 11:59 PM CST. If a student experiences trouble completing the online application, the supporting documents and applicant information should be sent to Sam Shafer.
Students are allowed to nominate themselves or their peers.
After submission, the Hatchery Advisory Committee will review each submitted application and confirm that each has met the requirements of the award. Those applications meeting the requirements will be contacted with the decision (accept/decline) upon conclusion of the review process.
Award Funds & Plaque
Once the Selection Committee's decision has been made, each individual will be contacted within the week and notified of the decision (accept/reject). The award amount is $1,000 in the form of a travel grant to be used for qualifying expenses for any conference related to poultry science of the selected student’s field of study. The grant funds will be distributed by PSA in accordance with receipts that match the original grant approval. It is imperative original receipts are kept and mailed to PSA at 4114C Fieldstone Drive Champaign, IL 61822 within 30 days of the event. A plaque will be sent to the recipient in 2021 due to the Annual Meeting's virtual format.
