CHAMPAIGN, Ill., January 15, 2019 – The Poultry Science Association Foundation (PSA Foundation) is pleased to announce Phibro Animal Health Corporation will contribute $15,000 over three years to fund a Continuing Education Endowment to support deserving students in poultry science. Phibro’s contribution will be highlighted during the 2019 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Phibro Animal Health acknowledges the critical need to prepare the next generation of talented young scientists to serve as leadership in the poultry industry,” stated Tom King, Director, US Poultry Business, Phibro Animal Health Corporation.
The Phibro Animal Health Continuing Education Endowment will support an undergraduate student entering his or her junior year or a beginning graduate student and is renewable for the following year subject to satisfactory academic progress. Preference will be given for students interested in the sciences necessary to continue at the graduate level in Poultry Science; these students are encouraged to apply for the inaugural Phibro Animal Health Education Award. The endowment was made possible through the PSA Foundation Charting Our Course – Securing Future Leadership for Poultry Campaign (Capital Campaign).
“At Phibro, we’re committed to working with the PSA Foundation and our university partners to identify these young people early in their academic careers as a means to communicate the great opportunities in the poultry industry,” added Mr. King. “The Continuing Education Endowment is an effective means to reinforce Phibro’s commitment to the education of these outstanding young people.”
Nationwide student recruitment for the Phibro Animal Health Education Endowment Award is anticipated to begin in early spring of 2022, with the application process to be completed in the late spring. Phibro Animal Health Corporation and the PSA Foundation will announce the 2022 recipient during the PSA’s Annual Meeting.
The Capital Campaign was launched by the PSA Foundation in January 2015 and aims to develop scientific leaders in subject matter areas, such as poultry genetics, health and nutrition, and food safety and quality for the poultry enterprise and allied industry. Funds of the Capital Campaign are used to award undergraduate internships, undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, travel grants and preceptor/mentoring grants.

Since its founding in 2004, the PSA Foundation has worked to support a variety of initiatives, such as the Legacy Project which digitized and indexed issues published since 1906 of Poultry Science, one of PSA’s journals.
