The Foundation is a committee of the Poultry Science Association. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to advance the founding principles of the Poultry Science Association by providing financial support for specific components and activities of the Poultry Science Association and its members.
The general goals of the Foundation are to (1) provide financial support for unique educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students such as scholarships and fellowships; (2) provide financial support for enhancing targeted faculty initiatives specifically benefiting the industry and the Poultry Science Association; (3) provide financial support for special needs activities of the Poultry Science Association, such as symposia and conferences; (4) provide financial support for lectureships in addressing specific concerns/issues of importance to the global community; and (5) other specific needs as identified by the Board of Directors.
Identifies talented undergraduate students with an interest in science and places them in summer internships with partner institutions for the purpose of encouraging them to consider graduate school opportunities for their MS, PhD or DVM degree.
Provides funding for two years for students pursuing a MS degree with projects focused on better defining normal broiler chicken behavior and/or the changes in behavior associated with enriched environments in the broiler house.
These funds support poultry science students interested in attending graduate school for their MS, PhD or DVM degrees. The endowment is renewable for a second year.
Provides funding for three years for students pursuing a PhD with a focus on poultry health.
Provides funding for two years for students pursuing their MS degree or three years for PhD students. Preference is given to students interested in the sciences necessary to support advancements in genetics in poultry science.
Enables the poultry science enterprise to compete with other disciplines for the most gifted students. Students are not required to major in poultry science, but must focus on poultry science. Scholarships are awarded to incoming juniors for up to four semesters.
This endowed fund provides scholarships to a junior or senior in the Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University.
Family and friends of Dr. James H. Denton and the late Shirley H. Denton established an endowed scholarship. Funds can be donated for scholarships to support students at either the University of Arkansas or Texas A&M University.
This endowed fund provides scholarships to a junior or senior in the Department of Poultry Science at Auburn University.
Provides funding for three years for students pursuing a PhD in innovative, applied, and basic aspects of poultry science, including such areas as intestinal health, immunology, poultry pathology and disease, molecular biology, and vaccine technology and development.
This is the overall capital fundraising campaign of the PSA Foundation. Donations to this program fund miscellaneous programs not sponsored by corporate donors.
